How many quarts of syntorqe?
Hi guys, I am almost done installing a square top nv4500 into my dads 1993 W350. I did this swap last year in my 92 w350 but my truck was an original getrag truck. His truck is a factory auto! Anyways, I am getting off topic. I cant remember how many qrts of the syntorqe do I need to put into the tranny? I do remember that I added about .5 a qrt extra in case some got in the chamber between the transfer case. Where the slip yoke is. Anyways, can someone please remind me how much to get? Thank you

5 quarts - essentially the same as a litre.
FYI, you dont need to use syntorque any longer - there are other options now that have the correct composition and additives, like Amsoil.

^ I agree but for the price my buddy sells me this stuff for at the dealer its not worth going to anything else. I have heard horror stories of people wondering off the beaten path and using other stuff. Not saying Amsoil was one of them. But I have never heard anything bad from people when they used the mopar stuff. Thanks for all the help guys, I love this site. Everyone is so friendly and nice. I get on other furoms (not Cummins sites) and people are mean to each other for no reason. RAM

Hey Dave...I wonder the samething...I was reading why to put a extra quart in...The front bearing likes to starve of oil if the truck is running on a slope. How sharp of a slope,I don't know, but its good insurance to put in a extra quart..

correct me if i am wrong.....
you can only put in 4 quarts through the fill hole on the side of the tranny. you pour the extra quart through the top of the tranny. you have to take the shifter out to do this.

I got 4 1/2 quarts in from using the filler plug on the side of the tranny, the last 1/2 quart I put in by removing the top bolt from the PTO cover and squeezing it in that way.
