Un-rant, just bragging

Got to do a real pulling comparison on my tow rig this weekend.
I've made many trips out past Kerrville, Tx from San Antonio. There are a couple hills that always make me nervous.
I used to tow with an '01 Ford F350 w/ 3.73 gears and the V10 engine.
Usually, I get to the point where the auto tranny shifted to 2nd gear going up the hill.
I'd be running about 4500rpm and going about 50 mph backing up traffic.

I recently bought the '04 Dodge pictured below. This weekend I ran the same hills and was really impressed.
I ended up shifting to 5th (1:1) and running 2600 rpm at 65mph and increasing,

You shoulda seen the smile on my face. Just wanted to brag.

Yep, right before the rest area, 512. I kept thinking there was one more hill, then I saw the rest area and knew it was the bad one.

What do you have on your trailer? The 4 wheeler in back looks to big to be an ATV?
The CTD is without doubt the best towing rig on the road. Seems Ford & Chevy do not have the low end torque to get started as easily

To be fair I saw a F-350 going up a 6% hill in the Rocky Mountains on hwy 285 with a 5 or 6 stall horse trailer, loaded, passing passenger cars. I could not pass it with my 10,500 lbs travel trailer, had to follow the guy.

Was it a powerstroke or gas?

If it was the diesel that's a better comparison, but their gassers suck at 10,000 feet! HAHAHA

i used to haul livestock for a company who's truck that ran with me was aford with an auto i ran stick. on the hills he could out run me due to the 5spd gearing but anywhere else he couldnt and i was running a heavier load. so dont feel bad odds where that it was an auto with a chip
