Last weekend my wife and I went to Seneca So. Carolina to pick up a Corvair convertible and tow it back to Louisville, KY. Have 1992 Cummins, straight pipe exhaust, 225K, 5 spd. I got 20 mpg going with an empty trailer. Coming back I got 21.5 mpg through the mountains, tailgate up and driving 60-65 all the way. What a truck!. I've had a 90 auto and a 97 5 spd and they got 17 mpg. This truck can pull a house and still is economical. Rides as rough as a road wagon but you can't have everything.

I have heard that these trucks get better gas mileage when you have the tailgate CLOSED compared to open or off the truck. I guess they thought of that in the design on how the air would flow up and over the cab and into the bed.

So, any pictures of that corvair? or your truck?

You can solve the rough ride, drop and air ride on it and itll be smooth as silk

i have bags all around but they are really just assist bags. the front works awsome but the back needs a pretty healthy load to take advantage.
