EGT when towing?

I had my backdown set at 1350 and melted er down after about 3 miles of hard pull....I have since started backing down at 1200...and it don't get near as hot now that I have had the valves adjusted...they had to do that when they re-installed the head when #6 was replaced....carefull with the EGT's Gents

Yeah, I figured there would be a little more heat stock since it has double the power.

It just amazes me that DC/Cummins will let a stock motor go that high. I was always under the impression you can push a stock diesel as hard as you want without having to worry about EGT's. If it will get to 1300-1400* stock then why don't they come with a Pyro?!?!
