EGT'S while towing..

i'm going to begin towing a 6500lb trailer soon for my first time w/ my CTD...i've done some mod's (below) and i'm wondering what kind of temps to expect..i'll be towing highway w/ some moderate hills and i'm assuming the egt's will obviously be running higher...(i have pre-turbo pyro) what temps are u guys averaging?

I pull around 10000 in wood in the summer and fall up some 6-7% grade hills and I dont get over 1200*. I'm soon to get a new filter system so I can get more power goodies with out taping my EGT's.

Re:EGT'S while towing..

Made a trip from CA to IN pulling aprox 12,500 and EGT temps were between 700 on flat to 1200 in the MT's. Once I hit 1200, I backed out of it to a lower gear and let the EGT's simmer down. Only one time I hit 1300 on a big long grade and I was almost to the top before I backed out of it. <br>Big dawg

I never hit more than 1000 pre-turbo this weekend towing my 3600 lbs. travel trailer 1400 miles. That was from Denver to Purdum, NE and back. That was towing on level 4 on the EZ.

Re:EGT'S while towing..

I've towed our 10.4K 5er in the Western Mountains on I-10, I-40 and I-80. On long steep uphill grades locked in 3rd I have had the temp exceed 1250, When that happens I back off on the throttle about 5 mph and get the temp down to 1200. It is not a problem on the interstates we have used to date. We have seen some much steeper hills in Nevada where I have had it locked in 2nd and could not maintain 40 mph the DEGT was high and the tran ny temperature was climbing.
