EGT when towing?
What are your EGT when towing on flats and uphill?
Towing a 34 FT TT weighing in around 9000 lbs today I was running around 925 degrees on the flats at 70 mph, 800 degrees at 65 mph. Up the harbor bridge (closest thing to a hill around here) (short duration) 1250 - 1400. All numbers are pre-turbo.
Is this about the right range?

Mine never went to 1400, I pull a 30ft fiver, close to 10,000 lbs loaded. Just got back from a trip out to the north west. I 70 from Denver to Salt Lake going thru the Eisenhower tunnel is a long haul up hill, and mine didn't go over 1150, but I have 4 in. exhaust and they say that helps to get rid of a lot of heat quick. My pick up prob is on the disgharge side of the turbo, on top of the elbow. So it's probably hotter on the other end. waam Holland, Mich.

Those are close to my numbers towing a 36' 16000 pound fiver. I never let it get over 1250 - - I drop a gear first.

Sorry it took so long to get back, but I want to thank you for all of the replies. I'm glad to hear that my truck is running about where it should be. Makes me feel better.
Thanks a bunch. Knew I could count on honest answers.

You would be surprised what your stock truck will reach with no power mods. I had my guages installed and stock or not I will never own a diesel without guages!!
With BDTD on CL I can hit 1500 degress wicked fast pulling my 29' enclosed snowmachine(work) trailer!! I need a larger turbo. I just watch my EGT's I never go over 1400 degrees for any extended time mostly around 1200 pre-turbo and 900-1100 Post turbo.

If 1250* is considered the safe max, how can they let a stock truck reach 1300-1400* under normal usage/conditions?

'03-07 can run much hotter than your '93. 1400 isn't unusual. You will melt a piston way before you do any turbo damage. Watch the water temp gauge that one is REALLY important!
