Redhead steering box and Hydroboost questions
I'm planning some upgrades for my crew cab this spring, I've ordered a aluminium radiator, led headlights and am going to install a Hydroboost braking system and new steering box.
On the redhead you can add as a option two threaded ports for hydraulic assist steering. Would this work for hydroboost or is it easier to do another way? (Cheaper too)
Red-Head Steering Gear Box 80-93 5.9L Dodge Cummins 2856SNI
Also I have a Hydroboost unit available off a 1995 dodge 1500 2wd, 2003 Avalanche and 2006 F350 diesel truck. If any of those would work

The hydroboost is plumed so the pressure from the pump goes to the booster first then from the booster to the redhead. So you just want a regular gear with no assist.
Hope this is clearer than mud

No because the extra ports on the redhead are for a ram that would go on the front axle(assist). so one is pressure and the other is return when turning one way and when turning the other they reverse.

i used a GM unit from a G2500 van. bolts direct to the firewall and has been working well for about a year now. i'd bet its similar to the avalanche one you have. they came in 90s-early 2000s 3/4 and 1 ton vans/trucks. the astro van booster looks very similar as well but i didnt like the small MC reservoirs. here is the G2500 one(to compare to your avalanche unit)

ford is a hydroboost with a huge master cylinder. I don't know what the ford uses for lines or what the sensor/switch on the bottom is.
I got mine from a pre 95 Chevy astro van and bought a new master cylinder for a 94 Chevy k3500. the mount is a direct bolt on. I did change the pushrod to adjust the pedal to my liking.

Hey Ashley....seems like the Ford is the only Hydroboost set-up. You could run it as you have it, or do some research and see if another MC would work...not sure if that tall unit would clear the underside of the hood....
