WOW !! Got more power now

I fixed the PO's mistake of using a #11 TST plate with a 3GSK on my truck. Put the #10 TST plate in, in the same place the #11 was (middle). I also put in the AFC spring kit (adjusted the way TST recommends for my truck) & boost elbow at the same time. The PO had broken the boost elbow that was supposed to be on it.

I checked the OV, and the spring needed to be stretched a tad.

All I can say is MAN !!! The truck seems to have almost twice as much power & acceleration now.

I'm now wondering how much of a difference sliding the plate all the way forward will make.

I also have a lot less smoke now during normal driving, and about the same upon hard acceleration. I know it's too early to tell (and it probably don't make sense), but it also 'seems' to have less blow by now.

Before, with the #11 plate, I couldn't get much over 18 psi boost, and only then with hard acceleration. Now, I see 20-21 almost right off the bat. and the egt's ain't really much higher than they were before.

I'm liking this a lot !!!

And now....how much effect (if any) will adjusting the timing & valves have on power ? I'm sure the timing has slipped some.

Timing

you will better burn the extra fuel that you have added and have a little less smoke, your acceleration and your MPG's will go up as well from what ive learned, you will have better top end, and might lose some TQ on the lower end but i dont know for sure.. I have yet to time my rig... Hope this helps tho!

when sliding the plate to different spots make sure your gov. arm is hitting it in the rite spot or you could have trouble down the road.being adjusted rite also helps performance.here is a link to the adjustment http://www.piersdiesel.com/TechLeverAdj.htm ,sliding plate full forward isn't always the best.

but that chart doesn't cover the combo with the GSK. I know TST told me it wasn't recommended when I asked. Iasked because of some posts on here and TDR that said they didn't play well together.

And yes, I know it makes no sense, but my blowby is nowhere near as bad now.

I dont understand

the only thing that i know the GSK does and im sure u know as well is widen out the powerband and stop the earlier defueling, Perhaps, what they meant was that a certain plate would be too much for your drivetrain to handle, IE your clutch and so forth, Regardless, If you have a stock clutch and you top out your engine alot, ur gonna destroy the clutch with any number plate u have in there.

Your only making 20-21 lbs of boost? Is that low? I know with my 180 pump and a 10 plate I can see 39-40.

I don't really understand either, but they said not to do it, so I made it right.

I think 20-21 lbs is low myself, but not sure yet, as I haven't had real load behind it.

I also don't know if there are any other issues that are killing boost. No obvious ones, but I am still trying to sort all of this out.
