Smarty vs Juice w/ Attitude
Smarty vs Juice w/ Attitude
Ok guys, I promise this will be the last time I bother you all about this.
I have narrowed it down to a Smarty or a Edge Juice w/ Attitude.
Throw out the price difference in the two since I can get either one for about the same price, actually the Smarty is more.
I have a 99 Quad Cab 2500 4x4 stock, new LP and IP last week @ 87,000 miles. I don't plan on adding anything else as far as performance mods go.
I like the simplicity of the Smarty, nothing to install, just plug it in and let it do it's thing more or less. I also like the fact that it also a code reader. I don't like not being able to change power on the go. I keep thinking about have the truck setup at a lower power setting and having a Duramax pull up beside me at a red light and not being about to crank it up, You all know what I mean!
I will still need at least a fuel pressure gauge with the Smarty.
The Juice w/ Attitude has all the gauges plus more good stuff, but much more involved to install. It allows power setting changes on the fly too along with the turbo cool down feature. I don't know very much else about it. The install isn't a big deal except it is winter and my truck doesn't fit into my garage.
I am at a disadvantage since I don't know anyone with either of these in their trucks so I haven't even riden in a truck with one in it.
If you were me...which way would you go?
Thanks a bunch to all of you guys that have been helping me through this and my LP and IP problems last week.

Honestly the Juice is not that hard to put in, it's mainly all just plug and play and the directions are fairly easy to follow. The Juice is probably the more wise decision money wise........you have more power on tap and you get the bonus of all the gauges you could possibly want.
It really is a nice unit and I don't think you'd be sorry you got it. The Smarty on the other hand is a really nice unit to, but you loose some of the party favors that come with the juice.

Thanks Nick
Is $589.00 a good price for a Juice w/ Attitude? Seems like it's a good price to me, I haven't found it for less. In fact I have seen used ones for more money.
I have been trying for the past two days to get someone at Keystone Diesel to answer the phone about a Smarty. They are only about 6 miles from me, but I don't know if they are still in business or not. They are listed as a Distributor on MAD's website. ??? Anyone know anything about them? I was told that they have a trade in Smarty.

Yeah that is a pretty decent price for them, probably the lowest I've seen as well. Just as an example........I spent almost $700 on my Edge COMP brand new and about another $350 on my gauges not including my fuel pressure gauge which was EXPENSIVE ( dang electrical gauges ). So basically you are getting everything that I have in one package for HALF of what I spent on all of my stuff. For the money man it is your best bang for your buck.

You don't list tranny type, but either way, with the juice you will need an upgrade if you use it all!
If adding nothing else and not street racing... Get the Smarty. More fun as a daily driver, no wire tap and lots of different settings to play with.
But if you want some top end kick to play with, also ...do the Juice. JMO.

Oops...5 speed trans.
Thanks RJ, I'm still on the fence on this. They both have what (I think) I want. Wish someone made one with all the good featues of both!
Could be all that I really need is the latest software update???
Truck feels sort of flat since I did the LP and IP last week. It's fine out on the open road, but the truck feels heavy to me from a stop, sort of like the parking brake is on or something. But it's just fine once it gets going. So more power is the answer I suppose.

You really need to try one first, if at all possible. That will get you the lattest software as well.
