Need new Shocks
Before others chime in and blast me to search prior threads for posts on this issue. I have. . .
I am seeing that the general consensus in the past is to use Bilstein, which I plan on doing. My question is which series?
I read great things about the 5100 series and I do not have a lift on my truck, but the p/n Geno's sells is for trucks with 0-2.5" of lift.
That said, the 5100 is about $4 more than the yellow and blue shocks.
So, can I go wrong either way? Any advantages/disadvantages to either?
Thanks,

Figures, I just ordered the yellow/blue ones today............. Seriously, from what I read, there is really no difference other than the 5100 series is for lifted trucks. I hope that info posted was correct, found them for 64.95 each free shipping on fleabay.

I figured I can't go wrong with the bilstein's either way. I was planning on getting them from Geno's. I don't always trust ebay, but that's just me.

Or you can try the place I used, Bilsteinoffroad.com. They were great to work with and they also offered technical help for my build. I would recommend them to you. Worth checking into hope that helps you out!

I have the yellow & Blue & they work great for most aplications, including heavy towing.
Genos is reputable, but you may want to Google the shocks for a better price. I think I got mine at Shox(?) wharehouse, and I think Shocks.com also seem competitive.

I've been running Bilstein and they've worked well. Now going to upgrade to king 2.0 w/res mounts. If you really want to improve the ride and "level" the truck, look into carli, thuren or kore coil variable rate coil springs.

Ive got the heavier 3" leafs on the back and none of the shocks Ive tried have had enough rebound damping to keep the truck from wallowing all over the place. The front isnt much better. Im looking at some rebuildable shocks so I can do something with the valving.

I just ordered some king 2.0 resivour shocks. Many suppliers have them on sale rt now for the holidays. Your spring rate is going to be a big factor in the ride and the shock will help things even further w/the dampening. Ck out down south motorsports or SQDH Offroad. Theyll even valve them for your truck. With the stock upper shock mount as "pintop", you may want to upgrade/change it so you can mount loop/bolt eyelet shocks. Good luck
