there options for your swap if you wanted too.. nv4500 nv5600. nv5600 is a brute and it shifts like it.. have seen people do a swap with a BUILT 6speed out of late fords.. cannot remmeber the tranny name.. there are alot of info out there. do some searches under nv5600 conversions. the price I cant comment on..

now this is a pretty dumb question but what trucks do these nv's come out of and what trucks came with the G56?

i thought the G56 cases cracked when you put to much power through them or am i thinking of the wrong transmission? I was also thinking of swapping to a manual and i was thinking of going with the nv4500 better for daily driving.

G56's do have issues in competition above 600hp, although the Gorilla upgrade seems to solve the case flex issues. I like mine better than the 4500. Smoother shifts, tighter pattern. Having the gear between 3rd and 4th is nice too, although I never had much of a problem with that in either of my trucks.

yes sir I did..

I have not drank any beer yet today so.. the nv4500 went all the way to early 05 as well as the nv5600 the nv5600 was first used in 2000.. the nv4500 entered 94? I may be wrong on the years so be easy on me....
there are many write ups out there on DTR on swaps as well as TDR, Comp, just grab the google...

NV4500 was 94-03 (better top cover in 98+), NV5600 was 99-05 (big input shaft from 01+), G56 is 05+ (taller OD gear in 6.7 engines).

Nv4500 can be upgraded to big shaft, small shaft 5600 cannot. G56 dissipates heat better than a 5600 and handles similar power. Different parts break tho. G56 easier to get parts for and can be bought new.

nv4500 available from Chevies, but one other contender that should be considered for a swap is the ZF. The Ford transmission is pretty robust and probably a lot easier to find. Routinely mounted to swapped in Cummins engines in Ford trucks.

@Tate : On the top cover difference of round top vs square top NV4500, does one shift any better than the other?
