Lift Pump Warning Device

I was checking out a system on ebay when they said check out the rest of our items on ebay like the warning kit for your lift pump. This warning kit lets you know when the lift pump is going out. When I started searching for this, I couldn't find it. Does anyone know about this, where I can find one, and how much? Sounds like a real winner. I would like to have one.

you could plumb a normally closed adjustable hobbs switch ($20) into the supply line to the IP from the lift pump. Set the pressure on the switch to whatever you want. When the pump is operating, the switch will open, telling us all is well. When pressure falls, the switch would close and set an audible and/or visual alarm. get an indicator light, Hobbs adjustable pressure switch, a buzzer, some wire and terminals, and do it all yourself for around $30.

got diesel,
you wouldnt have any pics of the system you explained - would ya? it sounds like a cool idea - just wondering how it all fits together and if you'd be better off just plumbing in a gauge.

Something like this would work as long as you could adjust it low enough. I believe there's some oil pressure switches out there that will activate at 7psi, which is closer to what you'd need.

The oil pressure sending unit on the 90 and up Ford trucks was just an oil pressure switch. Anything over 6 to 7 PSI would keep the warning light turned off. Would be even cheaper to get. Any junkyard would have them. If you find a junked Ford truck that has the 300 I6 engine, the sending unit is on the left side of the block (drivers side) towards the back. Kinda where our lift pump is is where the switch is at on the 300 I6.

I recently installed a fuel pressure warning light from Big Dadyz. The install took a little over an hour and the cost is $66.95 including shipping. I have an order form for it if you're interested. Or call Hugh @402-290-9168 and he'll fill you in.

That's the switch! I couldn't remember the application, but it should be the same. I believe the post-99 Miata was setup the same way.

Here's a complete writeup of the oil pressure switch on the 93+ trucks:

Joefarmer, yep that kinda disturbed me when I found out about it when I had my old F150. The 300 I6 is the only engine I know the location of that switch but it was also used on the 302, 351, 460.

BD makes a great little kit that includes a sending unit, a new banjo bolt and a little warning light that goes in the dash. (Ad removed site violation)

I like alarms AND gauges.....you can't always marry the gauges, and murphy will sneak up on you and make one go haywire while you're looking at another!! But then again, I've been around boats too long, we alarm EVERYTHING on a boat.

The off the shelf kits are cool, but if you like to tinker and design, I would rather have the adjustable hobbs with infinite control over switch pressure than to use a preset sender from another application. Hobbs is only $30-$40.

FRANKV569.....If you still want , I'll draw up a diagram and put it in my photo album....let me know.
