which fuel plate for a bone stock 97 auto
I am new to modifying the 12v. I want to start modifying it once my converter and valve body arrive from goerend. I have pyro, boost and trans temp gauge...do you need fp gauge on these also? I know my 24v was very sensitive to fp.
Anyway,
I hear many people say a number 4 plate is the best all around plate to use, but on the TST site I only see a number 6
what do you recommend and why?

#4 should be pretty good, I haven't ever run one personally since I have a 215hp motor, but the #4 in your truck is supposed to be similar in power to a #10 in my truck (I think) and I really like the #10.
Another option would be a #0 or #100 they should have a little more on bottom and maybe a little less on top compared to the #4.
If you call on the phone and TST doesn't have the one you want then call http://www.pdrdiesel.com/ , they will.
Oh and one last thing if you don't like high EGT's when your using the new found power then be ready for some air flow improvements with any of these plates (turbo, exhaust, air filter, ect...) .

looks like a 4 may be too much, so I may go with the 5
I thought the 0 plate was wide open pretty much all the way through? the 4 or 5 would flow more on top? can you explain how these work?
also is there any difference between the $70 kits on ebay and the $200 kits from pdr or tst?

your egts are going to go through the roof with the stock exhaust with a fuel plate (especially the exhaust elbow).. so change it Asap infact that would be the 2nd thing i would do after gauges.. as for the difference between the ebay and the pdr.. im not really sure the only im really unsure about is whether or not the profile they are selling you is actually the correct one

As for the 4 or 5 having more on top, we all know with diesels, more fuel = more power, correct.... Look at these pics and you will see the 4 is cut deeper than a 0 towards the top of the plate. The deeper the cut the more fuel... Thats just my opinion, and thats why I said the 4 "should" have more on top. I would call pdr to verify that.

nice chart... another 97 auto here... waiting for my stock TC to die before bombing much.
pulling 30k+ loads without problems with stock TC
planning on a Gorens triple TC when it does happen.
