what are people talking about they are slow to shift? if you double clutch and all that garbage they are. i drive a truck and can rage the gears pretty good, on wet pavement once i shifted 6 gears while spinning. 1 set of tires anyway

The ISC(8.3L) is the same block as the ISB(5.9L) and eaton fuller makes a 6 speed that they put behind the med duty stuff that is tuff as nails

There was a guy on the TDR a couple of years ago that went by the handle "C series man" or something like that. He had an older body style Ford that he put a 8.3L and a 10 speed in. He had a lengthy write up on it and lots of pictures of his fab work to beef'n up the frame. When it was done, he got good mileage and had loads of torque.

I've heard of a few people putting 10 speeds in Dodges before, but haven't seen one.

After looking at the catalog listed on post 16, it does look like that is a good option. The gears aren't much different between the nv5600 and an eaton six speed but the bigger setups just add more gears down low. I didn't really get into it, but the weight/size didn't seem too radically different from the nv5600 either.

Best option I've found for something like this is an Eaton Fuller FSO-8406A, its a medium duty 6 speed with synchronized gears. Rated for 860 foot pounds of torque, has provisions for a PTO and weighs in at 359 pounds. From what I've found so far they can be had for around $3000 + $1000 core charge, and I think an SAE#3 housing is used to bolt up to our cummins engines.
Seems like the best option to me, it what I'm planing for when my auto gives out.
