DSS, 03 tracbar install difficulty ?
I just ordered a DSS steering stabilizer, 03 tracbar, and conversion bracket. Are there any hangups I should know about before I tear it appart? I hear its pretty easy bolt on application but there are always ups and downs and tricks to everything.
Just installed my DSS about a month ago.
Not difficult at all.
I asked the same question right before I tackled mine, should be easy to find that thread with a search
I'm sure the tracbar bracket will be fairly easy as well.
Only thing I can see is your truck is a bit older than mine, so your original parts will probably be harder to get off.
Start soaking them with penetrating oil a couple days before you jump into it.

The track bar bracket takes a bit to get all the bolts to line up, but really its not that hard. I had some slag in the hole under the steering box where one of the bolts goes through, just had to drill it out a tad.
The DSS is a snap. I just made sure I had it all centered before snugging it up and then put on the bearing, just like the instructions say. Don't jump ahead, just go step by step. Piece of cake.
I had both setups installed in about 2 hours including cleanup.

I didn't have one that came close, so I had to make a couple trips for tools.

The nut on the pitman arm is like 32 mm if I recall, and the nut-shaft going on is 1-1/4". Fortunately I had a full metric set of wrenches, my sockets weren't big enough. (Maybe I should reword that...

Did any of you have your problems with the Trac-bar lining up? I had to use a drift and some grunting and groaning to get it to finally line up. It looks like it push the left side over a bit. Sound familiar to anyone. The DSS bracket made a big change.
What about realignment ?
