Selling on Ebay Question

Sadly, the economic reality that I can't keep my baby is here. I bought this when I was making a ton more money than I am now, and the payment is part of what's killing my shot at putting myself and my two daughters in a house this year.

I've never sold anything on Ebay before, but it's something I'm definately looking into. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to sell this truck quickly?

I've seen these go for $25-$27k, which is pretty close to what I owe on it, so hopefully this can be a reasonably quick process.

I appreciate any input from you.

Thanks,
Joe

Sorry to hear you gotta sell your truck, but its more important to put a roof over your familys heads than have a fancy truck. You can get another truck later. I cant comment on selling a auto on ebay because I never have but I would suggest putting it in the classifieds on this site. It will cost you nothing and who knows? I have learned thet Good trucks sell for good money so dont rush out and give it away, it will sell. Good luck

I hadn't thought about the classifieds section - I'll give that a shot.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, but better a roof over your head than a fancy vehicle in the driveway.

It seems like eBay ending prices have dropped a little bit lately on trucks. Normally I would say that putting a reserve or starting price on something hurts the selling price as it implies a value on it, but the last few auctions I've watched without reserve seemed to have gone for a rather low value. On the brightside what you can do is list it on there, say you are selling it locally, and if you aren't satisifed with what it is going for just pull it. At the very least it generally is a cheap advertisement. It costs a little over $40 to list it and another $40 to sell it. Starting the middle of February many of the eBay seller prices are practically doubling, I don't recall if eBay's motor division is increasing this much though.

I prefer to run listings for as long as possible in hopes of getting the most interest, more pictures generally ends up yielding more money, probably the most important thing is to think to yourself if you were buying what would you want to see or know? If you need any advise or want me to host some pictures for your auction just drop me a line. I've bought 3 cars & a motorcycle, and sold 3 tractors, a backhoe, dump truck, and trailer on eBay.

Another good place to list it is craigslist. craigslist has gotten good reviews in PC magazines and posting a classified is free. I checked it out frequently when I was looking for a truck. Here's the link to the denver area craigslist:
http://denver.craigslist.org/car/

It seems like sellers use the strategy of posting every day or two.
Hope this helps.

Just a thought, but you may want to try your local Auto Trader Magazine (They also have a publication called Truck Trader....available at 7 Eleven and other convience stores / gas stations). Many have a "run until sold" advertising arrangement....I have sold a few vehicles over the years this way....Sorry to hear about you having to sell the truck BUT real estate is typically a very good investment in your and your family's future
Good luck
Andrew

Traderonline.com. I have bought and sold several this way. It will come out in your local magazine and also show up on the website. $40 "run it till it sells" ad. Just don't for get to call them and renew it for free every two weeks so they don't drop the ad. Good luck brother
