Clutch Choices?
Well, after dropping in the #11 plate and sliding it all the way foward it has become quite obvious that the stock clutch is not up to the task and when I put in the 16cm2 housing next week it'll really be hating life. I know South Bend makes a great product and their customer service is second to none but their clutches seem a bit expensive. Has anyone had any experience with the clutch kit that TST sells? I am very happy with their customer service as well and their clutches are quite a bit less expensive. I plan on adding a 4" exhaust and some 370's, possibly a #10 plate as well as either a 3k or 4k GSK to the truck so I need the clutch to hold up to that kind of power.

Thanks.

John

The TST clutch uses the smaller version of the Sachs disks. The last time I looked at it, it was the version that only had 4 pins holding the hub on the disk. I would try for something else cuz once the hot-rodding starts it never seems to stop ;D

Don~
I can't agree any more you get what you pay for. The south Bend clutch is the way to go!!!! Peter and South Bend are always trying to improve the clutchs for our high torqued trucks and they are well and above the others when it comes to customer service....

If you don't haul heavy I would suggest the Con O it will take you alot higher than the plans for now and is an extreemly smooth clutch that holds and has a super lite peddle pressure. If you haul heavy look at the 13" OFE or FE.

Re:Clutch Choices?
I just had a South Bend 13" 1.25" Con Fe installed a month ago and let me tell ya you do get what you pay for and I got one heck of a strong clutch (just ask my 33x12.50 BFG Mt's) 8)

I've drove on of TST's clutches and they aren't bad for a lightly Bombed truck but the heavier clutch they sell will ware your light leg out in traffic. My Fe just keeps getting better with use.

DB

I too say South Bend. My Con-O is the third clutch including the Sach's from the factory and it is FAR superior to all the rest. First Gens had a launch shudder rhat is gone with the Con-O. It now has about 20,000 on it and it just keeps getting better.

With South Bend you do get what you pay for and then some.

South Bend RULES!!

Bob ;D

In my 96 I've had the OEM Luk, then went with a Luk Pro Gold, then to a SB fe, now a con o. Man ! I finally found the match for 400HP and my truck. You won't get any better for a street clutch. Smooooooooooooth ain't the word for it. Like air ride. ;D

..Preston..
