boost question

Just got my gauges done and i was wondering what kind of boost readings i should be seeing. It doesn't have any till i get the rpms up around 1800 then it will hit about 20 psi. Does that sound about right?

comp on level 3 sub level 3.

also have 1693 companion but it doe not show the other code.

Yeah, sounds way low for a comp to me. Should easily be close to 30PSI by that RPM with the stock charger.

On 3x3 you shouldn't have any trouble hitting 29 - 30 psi and it should start boost as soon as you hit the skinny pedal - well before 1800 rpm. How much boost do you see at highway cruising speeds?

sounds like your wastegate is stuck open, or a big boost leak

I checked all the boot connections when i got the truck and there were a couple loose, very small amount of bubbles with soap solution. How would i go about checking the wastegate?

Update, i just went out and rechecked all intake connections with soap bubbles. I can not find any leaks even sprayed intercooler where i could and still no leak detected. I looked at wastegate and it has a lot of threads showing. Is it possible it is adjusted open?

I took pliars and manually moved it and the best i can tell is it only moves in one direction as it is now. And it would have to suck the piston to move it.
Other than that, that is about all i can see.

Is the wastegate normally open or closed ? how do you diagnose whish one it is?

I'll ask again.... any visible smoke under heavy acceleration??

your numbers are low and your symptoms are strange but with an Edge Comp and a properly pierced wire, you should be blowing smoke with such low boost numbers.

There is just a brief puff of smoke on heavy acceleration. Not a real dark cloud just a moderate stream not heavy. Nothing to hamper vision in any way.

Nothing like some on here describe.

I reposted this in the help section. Here is what it is doing.

Cruising 0 boost, incline slow creap to 5, 10,15 depending on the distance then back to 0 when it levels out.

comp on level 2x2 it is almost as sluggish as it was stock. slow building rpm's

level 3x3 improved throttle responce , slow boost as stated above, haze ,moderate throttle, a little more but not a great deal of smoke on heavy throttle.

egt goes to 1000 real easy on regular throttle on incline. i dont know the grade of incline , just southeast okla hills.

most time egt at 600-800. egt's at idle and take off hit 400 real fast.
