boost with #10 plate
boost with #10 plate
I have yet another boost ? I have done a few searches and have not found the answer I am after.
I recently installed the 10 plate but as of yet I don't have a pyro hooked up and have a stock clutch. In an effort to avoid high heat and a grenaded clutch, I have the plate slid pretty far Backward, or pushed towards the cab rather than the front bumber. After twisting in the screw on the adjustable elbow i am able to get about 31 psi at WOT.
I assume that because of where the plate is located that the psi is fuel limited and that by sliding the plate forward I would see higher boost. Would you all agree or do you think that a 10 plate in said position with the waste gate blocked should be at a higher boost level?
On a side note to those who are about to install a boost gauge. The intructions say not to overtighten the fittings as it may damage the compression coupling, well, they are not lying. If you did as I did and really bugger up one, As Shaun Hannity would say, "Let not your heart be troubled" They have the little couplers at autoZone

I installed a #10 on a '98 a few weeks back. With the wastegate blocked and the plate in the stock position the stock turbo was able to hit 38 psi.
Not over-tightening compression fittings is very important especially if you are using them for a fuel pressure gauge. Finger tight plus one turn of the wrench is plenty,

slide the plate to the front of the motor, give yourself about 1/4" gap from all the way. i have more upgrades than you do, and pushin' in the 60's on the psi., w/the stock clutch, w/dually, don't worry you should be fine.

I put the #10 near stock originally and had around 33 Psi. The EGT's were getting hot in the high RPM band though.. So with your boost, I would just keep the engine from being WOT at 2700RPM. I had inched the plate forrward to about 0.075 from full forward and the stock clutch was complaining.
AFter the pyro goes in, then you can play all you want...

Gotta agree with Lil Dog on that one if you want to use it.
I seen just shy of 40psi on a 215 pump with a #10 and 3k spring kit
The GSK added would definitely bump the pressures up. Since the clutch upgrade the #10 is FFWD and I can overrun the wastegate a tad on a good romp in 4th gear. It will rush to just over 38 then settle back down to 36 after the revs come up.
