Sean,
I am not sureI understand the reasoning behind this?

FWIW - If you are looking to purchase one and do not want to spend the $300 and some on the BD idler, Practial Solutions still does make a high idler for our trucks. Still a bit pricey in my opinion at $179 but it is a great product from what I understand.

That and to keep from setting codes......something i may look into....im guessing one terminal is a idle signal wire and one is a supply wire?

Tyler.....why dont you get your pops to take a look at your hack job?
Dad's an intelligent guy when it comes to electronics but I don't think he'd quite get this. Not to mention the last time he dealt with electronics at work was back in the 80's.

BTW just for an update. Mine has worked flawlessly several times for me. I just have to keep from dialing it up past 2k rpms, which is obviously not a problem , and it works great. I usually Idle mine up to about 1200 and she is putting warm air into the cab in about 10 minutes in 20-30 degree temps.
Works great for my purposes.

Hey Rhino,

Yes, the addition of the second relay makes the idler function in "exactly" the same way as the "throttle pedal". Meaning, you could go full throttle and not set any codes, or as I woas reading about earlier, use it as a "hand throttle" for driving down the highway. Although, let me make this very clear, and let this serve as my disclaimer...

"I do not condone in any way, shape, or form, the use of the idle device as a rudimentary cruise control. Any damage to the vehicle, other vehicles/ property, or operator of the vehicle as a a result of such activities are not my responsibilty."

That's my liability waiver, and I'll leave it at that . I am working on drawing up a nice housing to machine a mold out of. Then I should be able to start making enclosures for this thing. It's been an interesting process...

Progress

Well,

Here's what I'm thinking for the enclosure. I am going to RP one and see if i can make the components fit. If all goes well, I should be moving into machining the mold right away. I can't give an exact timeline right now, but it should be pretty quick. I'll have to talk to Darren yet and see what his intentions are with this. But, I don't think it would take too long to have completed units ready to ship. Have a look and tell me what you think about the general design of the enclosure.

Yeah, definately nice looking. Nice that you have the skill and technology to make such.

I forget that everyone's not a lowly computer nerd like me.

Took me a while but I knew there was a simpiler way.

It does cost a little more (bout 50$) but its adjustable throughout the RPM range and sets no codes. Haven't got to see how it works for cruise yet.

It will work on remote start but ya have to set it up before you shut the truck off.

Depending on how you set it up when ya put it in you can set a limit on how high the RPMs will adjust to, I just maxed it out for the heck of it though lol.

Crobtex,

It can be whatever size I would like. I mean I can scale this up or down to fit the components I select. I think I'm going to place an order for a bunch of parts today, then arrange them to see just how compact I can get this. I would ideally like for it to sit in the ashtray. Maybe with a coiled cord, like an old phone, so that you could hold it in you hand while adjusting it. We'll see where that one goes. Right now, I'm thinking that i should be able to squeeze everything into a 1.5x2x3 enclosure. But, I am using mini 5v relays and the smallest pot i can find.
