I used to be a helicopter/airplane mechanic,
but now I grow flowers for a living in my one acre garden center.
I think BC847 HVAC technician suggestion is a good one.

Insturmentation calibration & repair. Do try to find something you like, and somewhere you like doing it. It makes life more enjoyable.

I'm a diamond driller, drilling holes for mining exploration companies generally in remote fly in areas in the arctic and the mountains. hard work, long hours, horrible weather, but big big money...especially for only having a high school diploma. definitely a young mans game being away for over a month at a time...usually only have to work about 7 months a year. lot's of wrenching on diesel engines and hydraulics. dirty but fun.

A&P Mechanic (airframe & powerplant) - former civilian job.
Sheetmetal Specialist for the Air Force - current job
Welder/Fabricator at home for fun
I'm on and off going to school for engineering can't decide between Mechanical or Fabrication/Manufacturing. Leaning toward Fabrication/Manufacturing.
On the side I built food grade augers for companies like Jimmy Dean and Tyson Chicken, but with metal prices what they are it almost costs as much for the clean stainless as it does to make them. Basically no profit

Several "ITs" here; I have no idea ??

I work part-time for Winston Rosthchild Sewage and Septic and seasonal for Dale's Dead Bug; neither pays very well.

My advice is to be careful who you marry.

You can marry more in five minutes than you can work out in three lifetimes.

Why work - it seems you should be able to be unemployed, buy a house you can not afford, have medical coverage, run up credit cards and the government will pay for it all (bail you out) with other people's tax money. You can also be an executive at a multi billion dollar company and the government will also pay your salary.

Try to be either a top executive or unemployed. Either one you do not have to do any work and still get paid.

On a serious note, I am 33 and a Certified Public Accountant working for a company where I do their merger & acquisition and licensing accounting.

True that... I would agree with this 100%. If you work hard at things you enjoy and are always growing and learning, you'll find yourself in good company a lot of times. If you weren't born with a silver spoon in the mouth, there are plenty who were, and generally want to stray from the similar types like themselves... Forge character, and hang out in the class signup/orientation line at your local medical school...

Ditto! IMHO, the fastest way to hate something you used to enjoy, is do it for a living for enough 's & too little money for a while...

23 here. Unemployed by choice at the moment. Re-evaluating what I want to do as a career. Went to school for welding and steel fabrication and did that for a few years. Considering engineering or something along those lines. I really have no idea at this point, I get bored to easily but I love learning about anything.

Made some stuff to keep me busy and pay the bills. Might be a nice side job/hobby as I don't want to do it full-time unless I had some cnc equipment.
Aluminum catchcans and amsoil dual remote filter mounts.

Welding's good work.

I drive truck for a welding supply company, delivering gases and welding supplies and equipment.

Right now is not the time to get into truck driving, though.
