i have to agree with this guy! dont do the same thing that you do as a hobby because you will end up hating your hobby then a year later hate your job and quit. been there done that. but if you are wanting to be a welder go to school get as many pieces of paper saying you know how to weld then find a union that will hire you on and do that for 45 years and the rest will be history. just my .02

Right now I work in automation and control (PLCs, robotics, misc electrical) but am going back to school to be a RN. I figured with all the plant closings and no new ones coming it was time for a change.

I pass gas for a living. Anesthesia for last 24 years. Also get to do fun stuff like stick needles in spines and other fun blocks too. I am 51, if I could I would change careers just for something different. Maybe Chiropractor or King of USA.

I’m the manager of a 12 MGD water treatment plant. Thats WAWA not CACA. I supervise 14 people that operate 24/7; oh I should also say that I am the janitor too.
I do the jobs that no one else wants to do. I have done everything from clean the toilets to running lab test. I’ve never had a day that I did not have a good time.

I'm proud to say I'm a welder with pipeliners local Union 798 and love it. It's a great thing doing what you love to do everyday, and I'm already into 6 figures for the year so the pay ain't bad either.

I'm 25. I fly Combat Search and Rescue helos in the Air Force. We fly the HH-60G Pavehawk. It's basically a heavily modified blackhawk with miniguns and 50 cals.
