im 18 and im going into lineman training in january, but im a farmer/entreprenuer. i produce/make and sell hay for a living. in my spare time i fix and build whatever in our shop, ill tell you if your good at welding, which i am good at welding and fabricating, why not find something different and new to do for the rest of you life, ill tell you i have been welding and fabricating on the farm for 8 years now, and sure as heck dont want to do it for someone else for the rest of my life. that and lineman make way better money.

I'm 32 was in the mechanical field since I was 15 about a year ago I got a county job at the 911 center being a dispatcher. I think it was the best move I made. County benefits county pension not to mention I don't get dirty plus now I can go home and tinker with my truck or what ever and I'm not burnt out. Plus I'm a volunteer Deputy fire chief in the county so I am in a field I love. Think about it long and hard before you make your decision and think about your future 20 years from now and where you want to be.

if you want a good career, look into being a dairy farmer, we like i so much we do it even though we lose money everyday with current low prices. milking cows at 5:00 am everyday in -30 in the winter is invigorating.seriously, ive done it 30 yrs, since i was 10 so i do love it, great way to raise a family.

I am 24 and have been welding professionally for the last five years. Some people are cut out for it and others are not. If it is something you are good at and dont mind working hard, sometimes really hard, you can make pretty darn good money at it.
