To see two more pics click the blue box above the picture with the arrow pointing left. Not brand bashing, but I really do feel sorry for some of those folks.

Oh, that is sick! I love the pic of the rod and piston pin in the cylinder. Note the holes in the cylinder wall. That had to rattle a little bit.

No wonder Cummins is still number one engine!

With Ford making these kind of mistakes in designs... Ouch! Thats got to hurt the owner pocket and the truck!

Wonder if it would be cheaper for Ford to buy a Cummins for his truck, than to buy the whole thing back?

I think there is a weakness in the '04 6.0 that causes them to burn pistons. there has been a couple of threads over there where the owner has been complaining about a knock and found burnt pistons...

I don't think you need to worry about brand bashing, they are pretty hard on their own brand. I hope ford gets this squared away soon. This has the potental of driving several first time ford diesel owners away form all diesel pickups for life...

Maybe this is the way that Ford is trying to achieve a 6 banger like the CTD..... All they need to do is keep running em till the #8 washes out like #7..... Then pinch off the fuel inlet to both cylinders and install a BIIIGGG magnet in the oil sump to collect the unwanted pistons and connecting rods
