over under misfire

went shooting with my neighbor, he wanted to test out some chokes on his new over under. He started running into a problem when every other round that was loaded into the top barrel wouldn't fire. We would hear the click of the firing pin, and you could see a little dimple on the cap, but it wouldnt fire. when loaded into my 870 super mag, they fired just fine.

we tried 6 different type of shells, and they all did it, so we assumed it was the gun and not a faulty primer or something like that.

any ideas?

has the weapon ever been apart and cleaned at all? Sounds like lack of proper weapons maintance to me. Have you ever taken it apart or are you familier with this style of set up? If not take it too a good gun smith. Every time i shoot a weapon i take everything out of it and clean it for several hours till it is completely cleaned. no weapon ever goes back dirty.

Ebay doesn't even allow gun parts to be sold, much less guns; probably gunbroker.com. Khan builds decent guns for the money- I have a client who's sold a lot of machine tools overseas to some of the gun mfgrs. I agree with everone who said to break it down and clean it. Inspect the firing pin assembly for burrs while you got it broken down.

I thought he said ebay, but maybe I misheard him. either way, I will tell him to strip it down and check it out.

on another note, as I said, I have a rem super mag, and put maybe 40 rounds through it today, the last one wouldn't eject, and got stuck in the barrel. I eventually had to disassemble the gun and push the shell out with a cleaning rod (when I got back to the house). was it something wrong with my barrel, or a bad round? i keep this thing completely clean, and have never had any problems with it, so it was odd that this totally killed the day for me.

ian515. Sounds like an ejector issue. Kahn O/U problem could be dirty, or a short/ broken firing pin, weak hammer spring etc. Shotgun primers need a pretty good knock to ignit them. Worst case chamber is over reamed and shell is sitting too far forward. Visually inspect that both shells ride at the same height in the chambers, gun dissassembled and barrells off the frame.Safety first!

Just a few thoughts, Kurt

I have seen burrs on the firing pins on the Khars. Disassemble, clean and look it over really close.
