misfire, top end hill problem

well i thought i was outa the woods but i guess not.....

i've left my truck running for 2 days straight now and in town i can stomp on it and spin the tires... accelerates fine but if i get to a longer steep hill it will start to misfire at the top of it.. same with on the highway... if i hit a hill there it will do the same but cruising down the highway at 100km/h theres nothing.... its smooth as can be. idles all night fine.

edit: could it just be some sludge from when my tank gelled? injectors plugged? or is it the dreaded injector pump....

i knew i shoulda bought another gm. hehe.. sorry guys

First thing I would do is change the filters. Sounds like you are running short on fuel pressure at high end. Next I would put a guage on it to see what the fuel psi is throughout the range. Starving for fuel on your truck can be a short term problem with a high dollar cure. Check it out and fix it asap.

You need to put a fuel pressure guage on it. YOU NEED TO!!! If you are starving it for fuel when in a long pull, the VP just ain't gonna make it............. At about $1500 I don't think I would chance it. A guage is a lot cheaper.

i talked to the dealership today. p0500 is a speed sensor code
p1693 is a code saying i have a problem and that i need my codes pulled.

the mechanic said a p0500 code will be thrown when an injector pump code is thrown a lot of the time. so i need a new injector pump

just thought i'd keep you guys informed for the future so if any of you guys have this problem

Well with the install of a new injector pump, install a fuel pressure gauge. They should test that for you before they install the new pump. Old lift pump + new injector pump = More $$$$ in short order..

Fuel pressure measurements may have saved your injector pump.

I think I entered this story in the middle somewhere. Why are you letting your truck idle overnight? I thought long periods of idleing were absolute no-no's?

i put it in high idle. my brother-in-law lets his f-550 run all winter without turning it off. he has to in case he gets called out to the bush.

oh by the way truck is fine now.. changed the lift pump
