Help with wireless router
I have a D-link wireless router that is just about 6 or 7 months old. Tonight I was playing a PS3 game online with a friend of mine when suddenly it said I had been disconnected from the access point and returned to the single player game mode. At the same time, my connection in Ventrilo (an online voice chat program) also ceased to work and I couldn't access the internet.
I connected my computer straight to my modem and everything works again but when I try to go through the router I can't get anything to work. I even connected my PS3 straight to the router bypassing the wireless and that doesn't work either. Do I have a bad router? I'm not happy at all, and my temper with electronics is extremely short and I don't want to have to smash yet another router....any help?
Also, I can't access the router through my computer at all, and I know I have the IP right...

Try to reset the router. usually has a reset hole that you depress a button through with a paper clip or something similar. If that doesn't work you might see if you can get the firmware to update. If none of that works it doesn't sound good for the router. Good luck.
Good advice there, also go through the startup routine in sequence by shutting down everything and booting one device at a time starting with your modem.Get the modem online, usually four lights steady, then the router, give it a couple minutes at least then boot your computer.Sometimes that is all that is needed to get back online again.Ron G
All other things failing talk to D Link tech support.

They should be able to help find the fix and/or replace the router if it is in warranty.

Well after posting this a buddy of mine who is pretty good with stuff was he able to help me last night as he's had the same issue. We had no luck. I hooked up a hard line from the router to my computer, no workie....same thing for the ps3. I don't have a receipt for the router anyway to take advantage of any warranty.
I tried to call D-link support 3 times, and 3 times in a row I got 3 different foreigners that spoke pretty bad English. The first two calls I had to ask the persons to repeat themselves multiple times (Is da ladder bayou? Huh?! Oh you mean is the ROUTER by me?) before I just hung up in disgust. The third time before the person even finished introducing themselves I hung up, as I could barely understand that Why does every company have to employ those type of people....is it a joke, do they laugh knowing no one can understand them?
So I eventually gave up last night, and as I was very tired and aggravated feeling like I was at a dead end I decided to make sure the router met it's demise before I laid my head down on my pillow. It's on the back porch in many pieces.
So I'm headed to best buy to get another one...hopefully the last for a while. And I'll be saving the receipt.

Well I went back to a Link-sys today. I got one of those wireless-N ones that's suppose to be really good. Setup was a cinch. I kept my receipt this time!
I also ran a hard line from the router to my PS3 to try and cut down on any connectivity issues. Sure sucks bangin' away at a game and all of a sudden you're out of it, lol. (I'm not a nerd....those are PC gamers, LOL)

Yeah I've got a d-link and it generally sucks. Kind of a pain to set up, and lots of connectivity issues. My next one will probably be a linksys. Thats what i get for being cheap and not researching things first.
