mullisha - no one is saying it's your fault the accident happened. it's the (inexperienced) driver's fault, not the gravel, not the turn, but the driver (how many other cars have you seen hit the ditch, flip multiple times, and slide 100 ft on that corner when travelling at a speed safe enough to navigate the corner?). but it was your decision to get in the car in the first place.

i am 22, probably not much older than you, so i am not trying to be the 'old guy' blaming the 'young punk'. i also work in the EMS field and have seen some life threatening & fatal accidents as a result of poor decision making. most people would be surprised at how often rollover's result in passengers & drivers walking away with little or no sign of injuries. often times they look worse than they really are, especially if seat belts are used.

i have done some dumb things and have been caught in stupid situations before. some of which (@ the time) 'were not my fault' or 'were out of my control'. as i matured (and continue to mature) though, i realize that i am the only one responsible for my actions & decisions to do , or not to do. you will too, trust me.

p.s. tell your friend to start saving his spare change to pay dad back for the damages & his own insurance premiums down the road!

u mean community service? nah the cops alreadys talked to him and said sumtin about $500 fine and possibly his licence getting taken away.most likly it will be gone, or he needs to start over

 

I'd sure like to see the physical evidence in this one. Skid marks, yaw, debris, vehicle damage etc. I bet 20 dollars he WAS speeding, and he didn't know how to handle the curve. Don't blame it on the gravel. Sounds like your buddy needs to get some driving experience under his belt.

 

I understand that,but it was just the fact that you did.I am a mother and I have seen what accidents like this have done.I believe that is why some states are trying to put into law about teenage drivers can only have one other teenager in the vehicle with them because of so many distractions.

Back when I was in high school I borrowed my brothers car while he was over in Europe. My exact words to my friends where..."Lets go tear up the streets."
So I had intent and a plan.
We get in the car, get out on a major street and floor it. I hit gravel and the slide begins and then we see barricades for railway track approach work but by this time the speedo is past 70 MPH. Hit the tracks, shot the cars front end straight up and snapped the car in half...doors jammed, glass everywhere, workers scrambling, etc etc. What a mess. and for what?
Again, the Higher Power was looking out for me...young and dumb? Nope...young and on a mission. That car lasted less then an hour. I had the RCMP, parents, teachers, CP Rail, Insurance companies and my brother all over me for months. I denied I was speeding. Did I learn my lesson? No. However, the other folks in the car did and never rode with me again. Choose a different driver next time. Glad you are alive.

Guess what?? Single vehicle accident such as that IT IS THE DRIVERS FAULT, Regardless.

I bet you didn't see any of the witnesses cars flying off the road??

 

yeah i definetly thanked him after that one, well there was a truck that did see it he was in the other lane.

These have been at least 8 young kids killed just THIS MONTH in our area.
Most fatalities were due to losing control due to excessive speed.

News this morning is reporting the number of teenaged drivers killed this month in our area as 13.

 

Trussville Man Dies in Wreck with Police Cruiser Thursday November 29, 2007 5:14pm</B>
Argo (AP) - The St. Clair County coroner said a 20-year-old Trussville man was killed in a late night collision with a Springville police vehicle. Dennis Russell identified the victim as Steven Earl Ehrensperger. Alabama state troopers said the vehicles collided just before midnight on U.S 11 between Argo and Springville.

The injured Springville Police officer, 22-year-old Chris Kelley, suffered a fractured hip and a concussion. He's listed in serious condition at UAB Hospital.

This happened overnight last night about eight miles North of my home. This young man who perished and his family attend my church and I also know the Officer involved. The video this morning showed the accident occurred in a curve on a paved street. The collision was head on and based on the one video clip I saw it appears that the civilian's vehicle may have been out of position on the highway. The Crown Victoria Police vehicle was folded down at the cowl at least 8 inches.
