Not the high speed, and the inexperienced driver.....it was the gravel that caused the spinout...........

You were fortunate ......this girl wasn't so lucky.

http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/1107/476139.html

A 15-year-old girl was killed and two other teens suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries during a single-car crash in Waldorf Wednesday morning.

Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the 15,000 block of Poplar Hill Road just after 7:00 a.m., where they discovered three teenagers inside a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. Investigators say the car's front passenger, Stephanie Weir, was killed in the crash after the driver lost control of the car and skidded sideways into a tree.

Speed and driver inexperience appear to be factors in the crash, according to investigators.

The driver and another passenger were flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to Prince George's Hospital Center 's Shock Trauma Unit.

Weir was from Brandywine and was in 10th grade at Thomas Stone High School.

The driver, a 17-year-old girl in 12th grade at Thomas Stone High School, is in critical condition. While the other injured passenger, a 16-year-old boy in 11th grade at North Point High School, is in good condition. They both also live in the Charles County area of Brandywine. Their names are not being released because they are juveniles.

Authorities closed a portion of Poplar Hill Road during the investigation

x2 . . . . .

just because the speed limit is 100km/h doesn't mean you have to go that fast. road conditions ('loose gravel on corners' - for example) should determine your speed. you said you guys were taking it for a 'test drive', but then later you said you all had previously driven in it ('safely' - according to you), so then what was the 'test drive' for?

and you should feel insulted being called stupid. i wasn't there when you made your decision to ride - but i'm sure you 'justified' it somehow. i know this because i made stupid decisions in high school also, i'm sure most of have, and most have probably learned from their mistakes. so don't worry about being called stupid - we've all been called stupid.

also, go to a medical website and research 'shock'. it's not what you think it is. shock is a true medical (usually caused by trauma) emergency, and is one of the most mis-used words out there.

bottom line is nobody was injured. . . . . just keep that cummins between the lines on all 4 wheels.

we took the car driving a couple days ago then we had it in the shop for repair, then we went out to try the car out again and thats how when we went to far out on the corner, and caught the gravel in the middle of the road there wasent actully gravel in our lane or the next, it was in the middle, and my friend usually does have the car it was no special event to take it out, we usally got around using that car. even witness say that speed was not a factor due to the speed on the corner we were going a safe speed but just unfortunetly we caught the gravel, just because we are young dosent mean we absolutly had to of caused the accident

I have read your whole thread, and what really bothers me is you Haha this and that.It is no laughing matter! Someone in that car could of really gotten hurt.I'm glad that noone did. Cin

And another thing is you would be crying if it were your Cummins.Number 1 : You need to set down and thank your lucky stars that noone was injured in that accident.2: your thoughts are in the wrong place.

I agree with Cins Dodge.

Doesn't sound like there was much of a lesson learned. My buddy in High school ( which wasn't that long ago ) did this also. he was driving the car flying up the freeway, showing off for some buddies of course. Wrecked the car. Everyone in the car was fine but he killed a lady in another car who was just trying to get home from work. he is now 36 yrs. old and STILL paying for that both emotionally AND financially.

hmm well i only laughed about 2 things, one thing to do with what his dad had to say to him, not about the accident and 2 is about my truck, nothing to do with the accident and i never laughed as much as you say i did, and yes i am very thankful to believe we could of been all over the road but we were kept inside. so if to laughs bother you about 2 difeerent things nothing i laughed about was to due with the actual accident, but the result and a truck meet

Mullishacrew, I think the point is that most of us who have posted are older. That being said, most have seen or know of someone who didn't fare as well as you and your friends. I remember being your age and having a close call or two. The one thing that getting older teaches you is just how foolish you were when you were young. These folks only want to know you learned from this and realize how truly blessed you and your friends were. It's obvious the Lord has a plan for you, and them. Try not to cheat him out of it.
