now this would be the first ar 15 i would be putting together. the rifle ar 15 that i have now is just used for "varmint" hunting. oh and does anyone know of a good "ar 15 builders guide"?

I wouldn't call putting those two pieces together building an ar. All you are doing is attaching the upper and the lower with the pivot and takedown pins.
You could save at least a $100 by getting a stripped lower receiver, lower parts kit and stock and put it together yourself. It is fairly easy. ar15.com has some decent instructions on putting a lower together.
