My New SPR AR15 Build

Last month I finally finished an 8 month long project of building up a somewhat
Mk12 Mod0 Clone. Accuracy is awesome to say the least. Without a doubt it shoots better than me. Sub MOA all day long. I built this for long range prairie dog/coyote hunting. Rounds that will be using are Black Hills 77grn and Gold Medal Match by Federal and Black Hills Mk262 77grn 5.56 NATO.

Here are the specs:
White Oak Armament 18" 1/7 twist stainless Match barrel turned by
Compass Lake
Vortex flash ider
PRI flip front sight/gas block
PRI carbon fiber forend
ARMS SPR Sleeve
Larue Tactical SPR Scope Mount
Nikon Tactical 4x16x50 Scope
VLTOR Billet Upper
Bushmaster Lower
JP Enterprises Trigger, speed hammer, and safety
CMT MP tested bolt with SOPMOD enhanced extractor
Young National match bolt carrier
ARMS 40L flip up rear sight
Magpul trigger guard
Magpul PRS stock
SPR Grip
Harris Bipod with ARMS adapter

I wont be using the Magpul PMag in the pics, but the 20rd mags hadn't come in when the pics were taken.

sweet gun ...
never had any interest in AR's untill a pack of 4 feral dogs chased my 5 year old across our hay meadow while he was riding his 50cc atc...

that night i bought a bushmaster varmint master ... put an old 4-16x tasco on it and bought some hornady tap ammo ...

at 100 yards a three shot group will touch and at 200 i can put three through a quarter ...

and yes the dogs are in doggy heaven now

I have a compass lake engineering ar. It has a 24" krieger cryo treated heavy barrel that is .94 at the muzzle. Jewell two stage trigger with bushmaster upper and lower topped with a fixed 36x weaver target scope. Made for 1000 yards. Best group at a 100 yards is .24 for five shots.

I went all out and bought lapua brass to load for mine. I also own a colt sp-1 with a serial number under 20,000. In my compass lake ar I bought one of david tubb's recoil springs for it and now it makes no vibrations through my cheek.

Whats your point? If I wanted a 308, 7mm STW, or a 338 Lapua I would have built one. However, all would be overkill for a prairie dog dont ya think? This meager .22 does just what I need to do.

Don't forget this old timer, the .220 Swift. It's a smoker, also known to smoke barrels too.

That's a real beauty. Kind of like a guitar that sits in the corner...it just begs to be picked up and handled! I'm thinking I need to get my hands on a Stag 15L. Soon.

OOH! Sorry! I was just joking around. Didn't mean to touch a nerve.

I'm a handgunner myself and in handguns, caliber rules.
