weird starting

My started has been acting funny on my truck, it cranks real slow, almost stops then it will speed up and start. Batteries are pretty good. It does it most of the time and sometimes it will start normal. Its reminds me of cranking a gasser over with too much timing. Is my starter dying?

Thanks

Have you put the upgrade starter solenoid contacts in it yet? The originals are probably worn out. You can get em off ebay pretty cheap.

See my pics for a look at starter contacts and how they wear. They are easy to replace. Click on the link below for parts and info.

When you check the batteries be sure and disconnect both and have them load tested. They can't be tested together and just doing a voltage check won't be enough. They have to be put under a load.

Well, infidel is right but I only have one bad one. I think I might try running one optima for now.

as a standard swap i don't recommend changing just one especially for an optima the voltage drop and cycling abilities are signicantly different. you should change both to be safe

In other words, If one's bad, the other's not far behind.

I would change both of them but I am quite poor at the moment (right side hub died, just did twins) so one has been working fine for me right now.
