Truck won't shut off ???

Truck won't shut off ???

92 ram 350 diesel,Just did the 3200 spring swap and turned up the pump screw, drove to town shut off just fine, got back home and won't shut off with key??? HELP, Thanks

Shut off celinoid probably died on you...Give it a minute for Wanna to chime in and tell u how to run a pull cable....Did you get the truck to shut off yet?

Sounds like the pump ate the fuel shutoff plunger. You can get a new solenoid and plunger cheapest from your local VW dealer, part number is in the FAQ, or just tell them it's for an '85 Golf diesel. To shut the truck down in the meantime, use the emergency shutdown lever on the side of the injection pump.


The shutdown lever is at the bottom center of this pic. Push the lever towards the rear to stop the engine.

KK...Well i'd call the local VW dealer and get a new celinoid for the truck...unless u wanna run a cable from the shut down lever to the cab....

Were does the solenoid and plunger go?? Y would it just all of a sudden go like that?? Thanks

If you look in the pic Mike posted, the solenoid is towards the bottom, just to the right of center. It has two wires going to it. You just unscrew it with a wrench. It's a lot easier if you trim the rear pump bracket.

Most of the time they die on trucks that have been turned way up. A chunk gets torn out of the tip of the plunger and lets enough fuel pass for the truck to idle.
