Sounds like the fuel shut off solenoid. Try turning the key on and lift up on it. It is near the rear of the injector pump. Seen some wiring get corroded and hitting bumps and such is enough to make it kick out. you can also unhook it and put a choke cable on it just like an old tractor!

Does it start to kick at all? I know when my fuel lines were rotting out and I developed multiple air leaks my truck would hardly start. Did you check every injecter?

The fuel shut off solenoid is likely unplugged. It's located near the back of the pump, it has two wires plugged into it. One of them has probably shaken loose. Replace the spade terminals with ring terminals and you will be up and running.

Vzdude wrong method

Vzdude- he has a bosch VE pump on a 93 so he does not have the lift it up style solenoid like the 94-98 p-7100 pump trucks.

Check the solenoid wires like wana said and if that does not work let us know sounds a little odd if you do infact have good fuel flow with no air at the injectors then it should run or at least try to Does it smoke at all when you try to start it ?
Do you have 12 to the solenoid wire turning on and off with the key?

I had similer trouble after fueling at a fuel station, made it about 1/2 mile when it shut down. Thought I had picked up air in the fuel line as I was pushing low fuel a bit. Bleed the air, still no start, bleed more and noticed some air bubbles. thought fuel pump might have a small hole and was pulling air, or fuel line or tank pickup might be pulling air. So put a feul can next to the truck and ran a hose to it. Ran fine. ran a temperary fuel line into the tank down the filler(after taking off the anti siphon ball). Would not run. Turns out the fuel was mostly gas, pumped fuel tank and refueled, no more problems. Gas is oxygenated in our area, and has bubbles in so it will not get past the injection pump, thank goodness.

If it quit so soon after refueling are you sure, really SURE, that you filled up with diesel? Remove the fuel cap and sniff. Do you smell only diesel, or is there any gasoline smell?

fuel

i smelled the fuel and no gas smell i took sone fuel from the bottom of the filter where you drain it and was only diesel fuell. i always heard a diesel needs three things to run fuel, air and compression is there some thing in a truck that stops it from running and fuell still comes fron the injecter???

Yes, you will still get some fuel out the injection lines if the shutoff solenoid is failed or disconnected. You can unscrew the solenoid, remove the plunger and spring, and reinstall the body to eliminate that as a possible cause.

I am sorry I missed this one. I was in Kingman on thursday and again on sunday. I would have been more than happy to help you even though I don't know squat about a 12 valve. Guess I need a laptop.
