180* out? easy to do...

white smoke means you have fuel, just at the wrong time.

Just for your information, you know if you even touch that taperd shaft with bare hands, it can slip in that gear! letalone if it had wd40 or even grease or something on it...weve had a couple HOT trucks come through here wondering why the heck everytime they stomped it it would go outa time.....alcohol, and lots of it to clean that mating surface!!!

Not an issue on a '92. The shaft is keyed.

our fuelpump rebuilder said itll go through that key like a piece of paper. Hes seen it a hundred times... hes an anciet guy who has done nothing but rebuild cummins fuel pumps all his life...
actually he sugested to a person here doing a p7100 conversion to a 2001 that he dont use the key, and just make sure the mating surface is extra clean, s it doesnt screw Edit up when it does shear the key and crack a gear...

best thing for cleaning is contact cleaner , leaves no film on the shaft or gear. the worst thing is brake cleaner
