Injector pump Loose What does the angle of the injector pump have to do with???
1990 D250 CTD. I have had a whiring sound that has slowly occured more often.Yesterday I found that the injector pump had come loose from the two mounting screws. The mounting holes for the injector have one round and one slotted hole. Obviously the slotted hole is for adjustment. What adjustment? Can I adjust it? What will I ruin by tightening the nuts that hold the injector pump to the block? I managed to limp home with the bolts tightened. Do I need to have it taken to a shop for an exact adjustment?

There is a total of 3 nuts and 1 bolt that hold the injection pump in place. Look at the nut closest to the outside of the pump, you should see a timing mark on the cover and there might be a scratch mark on the pump body, these should line up.
After that tighten everything up. There is a nut behind the pump and another one underneath, those are difficult to get to. The one on the outside and there is a bolt underneath the injection lines.
