"dead pedal"/injector pump?Help!
I have a 2002 Dodge 2500 with a 24 valve HO cummins and a 6 speed manual transmission. What causes loss of power and no response from the accelerator pedal when I slow down to 50 - 55 MPH? It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, I can downshift or press the clutch and rev the motor and it seems like something resets and the truck takes off again. This also happens if I just start the truck and take off without letting it sit and run for about 5 - 10 minutes. I have changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, and air filter with change in performance. If anyone can give me some insight on this very frustrating problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, the "pump timing failure" thing - can this be corrected with an adjustment or does the whole pump have to be replaced (trying to get around spending $1000+)? Also, code 230 "transfer pump circuit out of range" - is this one a result of the injector pump or is this a seperate issue? Thanks for the help!!

Some will say that they drove for 6+ months with the 0216 code - but you are really risking being left on the side of the road and possibly an expensive tow. They Injector Pump is likely shot. I see youve already replaced the lift pump so part of the job is done.
Get yourself a fuel pressure guage, if you dont already have one.

If I were working on your truck, I would find out where this 230 code is coming from first. It's not a common code to have. There is a SLIGHT chance it could have coused the 0216, BUT I have yet to see an 0216 with dead peadle fixed with out a new vp44. JMO

That is true Black D....Personally whenever I see that code you get a new lift pump. Most likely the lift pump motor went "open" at some point in time to cause that code. So, new lift pump, make sure the filter is new (or fairly new)....and then I clear the codes and test drive it at 2800-3000 rpm's for a mile or so. Seems kind of harsh, but it doesn't hurt a thing and if a P0216 is going to set in short order, it's that kind of test that I've found to make it happen.....if so, then you get the BIG pump (VP).

I've had success with a dead pedal isue by disconnecting then reconnecting the wiring connection to the throttle position sensor...accelerator pedal position sensor(APPS). You can also try resetting the APPS.
A fuel pressure reading could be helpful here, some new lift pumps are bad right outof the box.

True....so that's where I clear the codes and run it as described above. If code shows up...VP time. If no code I turn it loose and tell them to stop by so I can scan it, or return asap if "dead pedal" occurs so we can see what code shows up.
