Tranny wont shift!!

please help i am getting married saturday and going to florida from NC and my transmission keeps hanging between 1st and 2nd gear. it is a 00' ram 2500 4x4 with automatic tranny. i had the tranny rebuilt approx. 1 year ago and have only put 25k on it since then. the man said that 2nd gear had gone out and he completely rebuilt the whole thing. now it is not shifting again but the tranny feels good in every other gear dont know if its electrical or not any input would be nice so i donthave to pay the man to hook it up to the machine. thanks

you poor sole I mean about getting married . I don't know if you have enough time, but you could drop the pan and check the bands (25k miles could probably could use a oil and filter change anyway). How does the oil smell and look? Does it shift better when warm or cold or same? just my .01 cents and by the way congrats on the wedding

Check the front band, you can do that without dropping the pan. Check codes too. You could have a governor issue.

Check your TV cable and adjust it if it is too loose, this will cause same type of shifting problem. If it is fine, then get scanned for codes. Bands could need adjusting if you did lots of towing, and high mileage without an adjustment. A common shift problem like yours is usually a governor solenoid out of range, which can only be pulled with a good quality scanner.

Make sure you have enough fluid in the trans too.. in my experience tranny wont shift without enough tranny fluid but that was in my old 75 gmc
