new automatic tranny wont shift
i just got my rebuilt tranny back in my truck and now i only have park reverse neutral and first. it feels like it trys to shift when you let out of it for a second but then just goes back to first. checked all conectors. i reset the apps more than once. any help would be great im stuck with a truck with only first gear. you cant even manually shift it
tranny went together nice and smooth. no leaking from the tranny. it just wont shift. if you let out of it you can kind of feel it in second for a second but then it just like slips into neutral and then will kick its self back to first

Replace your transmission speed sensor ( output shaft). It is located on the overdrive housing, large white sensor. Most likely it was damaged during your R & R, or the magnet on the end picked up to much sludge with the fluid change, and it can't read the rpm's. Most parts stores carry them. I just picked one up at Autozone today to put in a truck. Fixed the problem and takes 5 minutes to do. If the sensor can not read the rpm's the trans will not shift out of first gear. Be advised when you remove the old one fluid will run out.

Park with the nose down when you replace the output shaft speed sensor and if you are quick you might loose a few drops of fluid. I had the same issue in my 2000 gasser changed out the sensor and good to go. Also check for codes to ensure the trany is talking to the ecm.
well lets see what i did today. new speed senor, new govenor solinoid, new govenor sensor, new computer and all leads to nothing. but i did find i had codes 1757 and code 0713 appear when i went on a long drive in first gear. i tested the wires and found i have 10.8 volts leading from the orange wire to the transmission when i should have 0 or under 5. this this throwing the trans temp voltage to high and the govenor sensor to high. i am at a loss guys and my other car is down and out

you have internal trans issues like cut seal rings on the input shaft into the front clutch drum or loose valve body, replacing solenoids and sensors will not fix the troubles. you have an internal hydraulic leak going on take it back to where it was rebuilt and tell them to fix it.

what would be causing the internal leaking. everything in this tranny is new. my question is what is causing the transmisson temp voltage high code and the pressure volts to high code. what tells the computer what volts should be going to those sensors.

make sure the trans control plug on the drivers side of trans is plugged in all the way, its the plug next to the manual valve linkage. the plug on the side is the neutral saftey switch. the pcm sends reference voltage to the trans sensors and solenoids if it see's no voltage coming back the pcm is sets codes because sensors are out of threshold. so make sure the plug is in all the way and none of the pins are bent or corroded. also did the sensors and solenoids get replaced when the trans was rebuilt. if not i would make sure they are working if the trans is plugged in, also make sure they are plugged in inside the trans. Govenor pressure sensor and control solenoid have plugs inside trans. next, your internal leaks can be caused when the front clutch drum and pump are installed if the seal rings are not properly wrapped and installed they can be cut or nicked causing pressure leaks internally. also make sure the VB is tight.
