Tranny wont shift / code P 1757

Just took the truck out on the road and it won't shift out of first. Climbed back up the mountainous drive (yes I am in OK) IN 4WD and noticed no slippage. Got a code of P 1757. Could anyone please let me know what I am facing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, at least that tells me where to start. I've got about 140,000 miles on it and do very little towing. Could some of you give your opinion whether to do the repair or a complete rebuild? Thanks again.

Really need to get a scanner and do some diagnostics first. It could be as simple as the governor pressure transducer and solenoid need replaced. Those only cost about 175 bucks and a couple of hours ( if you are slow ). Or it could be worse. Without spending some time or money to find out, you could waste money on a trans rebuild and may not need it.

yep he is very right....the gov press sensor and solenoid seem to go on these pretty often but you need a scanner(a really good one)to read what the trans is doing...

Took it out again and was able to get it to shift by letting off of the throtle while going downhill but once it got going uphill it would downshift HARD! I realy dont want to downshift to 1st while going hiway speeds so I,m having it towed into a mechanic. Thanks to everyone for there help.
