Radiator going?

This seems a little weird to me, but maybe it's more "normal". When I got to work this morning, I checked the rad because I thought I smelled anti-freeze in the cab, but faintly, and it may have been a car in front of me in traffic. When I got here (work) after a 50 min. commute of 20mph-60mph varying driving, the radiator cap and half the radiator isn't even warm. I mean NOT WARM at all. The drivers side hose is hot and that side of the rad is warm but the pass. side and rad cap are cold? The wife and I are going camping next week and it's our 1st trip away in 6 years so that's why this is in the EMERGENCY section. 'Cause if the truck causes us to miss this trip, I'll be sleepin' in the garage for the next 6 years.

How far did you drive?
It takes about 15 miles for my radiator to get warm to the touch this time of year.

Well it normally takes about 25 mins but this morning an accident made it an hour. I was idling along for quite a while, maybe that was the difference. The temp guage says I'm at normal (90C) and the top rad hose is hot, but the bottom hose at the radiator isn't warm and the cap isn't warm. Shouldn't the cap be at least warm? It even seems to heat up and blow hot air in the cab normally so maybe it's just me. Yeah, it was quite a bit cooler this morning also. Just nervous before our trip, don't want any surprises...

I took the t'stat out and it seemed to be "sticky" so I worked it a bit until it moved smoother and put it back in and all seems well so I'll be replacing it tomorrow. No real smell from heater so I hope it's not the core, crappy job to replace those...
