out put housing
Well I had my tranny rebuilt and when I went to pick it up the tech showed me the housing that bolts between the mane part of the tranny and the transfer case. It was broken around the flange that bolts to the tranny.
well I was putting on a new lift pump on the frame and noticed it was broke again. I can grab the drive shaft and move the whole transfer case and rear housing, it feels like it could fall out. the case is cast aluminun and wonder if they make a cast iron unit. has any one ever seen this and what the hell is causing it. and how do I fix it?
I should have bought a stick this slush box sucks.
By the way it is an auto.

Try giving Blumenthals in OK city a call. While I was having my driveshaft rebuilt there I saw a lot of off road pictures on the walls, so they might be able to help.

Saw one broken in that area years ago and determined that the driver liked to throw it into park, slightly before the vehicle came to a complete stop. The park pawl would lock that rear housing to the still-turning output shaft, and eventually stressed the rear housing enough to crack. Not sure if that's your problem, but I thought I'd mention it.

You have a custom 3" lift listed. Is this still right? 3" wouldnt do it but a 6 or bigger without lowering the trans and tcase could possibly bottom out the ujoint at the back of the tcase when the suspension flexed making something give. Where does it crack first? top, bottom, left right? all at once?
