Oil out, where to put it in?

Oil out, where to put it in?

I'm doing what they told me to do here.<br>http://www.dodge-diesel.org/yabbse/i...threadid=14014<br>8th post down. They told me to take the rear section of the transfercase off. Well I did and oil came out. So where do i put the oil back in??? And what kind of oil do I use?<br>DM01

There should be both a fill and drain plug on the back side of the transfer case. The New Venture 241 on my truck takes ATF. I assume your '94 has a New Process 241, I don't know if that calls for ATF or gear lube. Check your owner's manual if you have one. I was always told, if the transfer case has an aluminum housing, it takes ATF. If it's a cast iron housing, it takes gear lube.
