vp-44 failure!! need assurance quick..cmon
i was driving home from work today and decided to crank up the box a bit on the highway..truck shut-off, i coasted to the side of the road and she just cranks away ( lp is 1 month old)...it sez in the warr. book this is covered, guess i have to take the box off ( and yes the wire is spliced w/ a scothhlok)....does this sound like the injection pump? i remember a post like this and also , is the new vp-44 any better?

I am no expert, but here are a few things to consider.

The dealer will find the scotchlok and void your warranty. They have been told to check for the telltale marks left by a scotchlok or similar device. Unless you have a very understanding dealer.

I am not convinced it is the pump, tho. Are you getting fuel at the head? Crack one of the 19mm (3/4 in. ) nuts, even spin it all the way off, and bump the starter...see if any fuel is spitting out.

I would check the scotchlok connection for a good connection.

I have read that if a box is going to take out the pump, it will be within the first 20 minutes or so of driving with the box connected and on. How long have you been using it?

i was on it pretty hard when it shut off...i cranked the **** clockwise pretty far on the box, something i rarely do, i was puttting a PSD in its place ( left that out on the first post) and it SHUT OFF at like 75 mph...the lp is basically new from cummins.....that scotchlok tell-tale sign thing has got me bitting my nails though, it dont take a rocket scientist to figureout it was in there......do they really look for that?
Re:vp-44 failure!! need assurance quick..cmon
If you are getting fuel to the vp-44, check to the injectors, crack the lines at the head loose one at a time having someone cracking the truck at the same time. Just as you would do when bleeding lines. If you are not getting fuel to the injectors the inner vanes in the pump are either gone or the pressure ring and plunger is not working, you can try to add oil in the fuel to thicken the fuel and see if it will fire up that way if not start working on making friends at the service department to warranty it.
