Question Is an '01 dana 70 rear end HOUSING the same as a '95 HOUSING?

The spindle is bent on my rear dana 70 housing, so I need a new housing.....just the housing.

I found an '01 housing that had disc brakes, but mine has drum brakes.

Are the lengths the same?

Can I put my drum brakes on this rear? (will it basically bolt on without any probs?)

Again, I am only concerned with the housing.

I think the flange that holds the backing plate on is different. I put a disc brake Dana 80 in my 97 dually. I wanted to use my drums since everything was new, but the flange was different so I went with the discs.

I'm not sure on the brakes, but I just swapped in a rear from a 98 sport into mine, everything was the same pattern except they use a different ABS sensor. But the tone ring is the same so I just took the old sensor and put it in the new diff, works great. Where are you located? I've got the old housing yet, I'm in MN.

If I can get the disc brake setup with it, will my axles from the drum rear bolt up?

Will I need a special proportioning valve to use discs?

I would definatley say different proportioning, How ever can't help ya with the drums. Maybe even so far as a different M/C since the Calipers for discs hold more brake fluid than the 2 little wheel cylinders.
