Oil pressure

On my '03 dodge the oil pressure drops down to 275 or lower at an idle. Just wondering if this was normal? Also noticing increased oil quantity on dipstick. It has around 257,000 kms, should I look into doing injectors and/or a bearing roll?

275? is that a misprint? also what's a "bearing roll"?

If it is making oil you have a injector problem. Fuel in Oil = BAD don't run it like that.

He is probably talking metric - kPa and that would be normal oil pressure.

275 is the number under the center line of my oil pressure gauge. By Bearing roll I mean installing new crank and oil pump bearings.

Sometimes there can be a trick to achieving a consistant oil level reading. Let engine sit for 15 minutes
Give the dipstick a gentle snap/jerk quickly all the way out. This aids in preventing the flex in the dipstick from brushing the tube top/bottom and giving a false higher level than actual. Try it several times and you will see the consistancy. Careful not to over do it and break the dipstick though.

2003 had bad oil senders. Mine would drop to 0 psi setting off the alarm.

When the engine is warm, it is pretty normal for the oil pressure to drop down to the middle of the gauge or a little lower when at idle.

Has it always behaved like this, or is this something new? Or is the truck new to you?

since the factory oil pressure gauge is getting its reading from the ecm and a 7 psi sending unit. Get amanual oil pressure gauge to see your correct pressure. My truck with cold oil and driving down the road usually sees 80 psi of pressure and 40 at idle with warm oil.
