Kickdown Band??
I have been doing some reading on the same problems as I am having right now, and think it may be the kickdown band in my tranny. The other morning, started the truck let it warm up a bit and then went to leave my friends place. Get onto the highway and the tranny goes through first, into second, start accelerating harder and it kicks back down to 1st and stays there. By this point I was turning a corner. So I accelerate like normal, but it won't shift out of first. I let off the throttle, start accelerating and it is in second...and it shifts fine through the rest of the gears.
Is this an easy fix to adjust/fix the kickdown band, or is it somewhat major work? And how long could I drive the truck like this for?
Thanks

I don't think it is the band or even the adjustment of it.
It could be the speed sensor, the presure sensor, or the pressure transducer. The first one is at the bottom of the OD case, the second and third are in the pan.

What does the speed sensor read...how fast TC is spinning? And if it were the kickdown, im assuming it is the cable the runs into the tranny next to the gear selector. How would you go about adjusting that?
Thanks!!

Had one of my mechanics look at my tranny quickly. The kickdown band is still there and working...so we hooked up the scan tool. Found that the governor pressure/voltage is too high. At idle it should be reading 0, my tranny was reading 50 I believe...didn't get a good look at it. Sooo I'm going to change out my Governor Solenoid and my Transducer Solenoid and see if that fixes the problem. Will report back once I have the parts and are installed.
And for anyone that knows quickly...where might I find these two solenoids?

Thanks j-fox
So just open up the pan behind the flex plate pretty much and change them there? Is there a diagram anywhere that shows which solenoid is which. I'm a noob when it comes to transmissions
EDIT: I've been thinking, if it's going to cost me around 200$ to get the two solenoids. Would it be a good idea to just buy a performance valve body and switch the whole unit over? I am wanting to upgrade the tranny anyways, so could I just do this for now...and then do the TC later on?
Thanks!

On Goerend's website he has the "High Pressure Valve Body with solenoids" I am assuming this VB comes with the new ones but I will ask him to make sure. This is the route I am probably taking and so far he has responded with good emails
