Heater blower isn't working, it's cold outside!
Ok guys/gals, my brothers truck needs some help. It's not a Cummins ram, its a 2002 dodge dakota. Its cold out and the blower for the heater isn't working at all. None of the fan speeds work, not even on high. I know if the fan worked on high the resistor would be bad. I looked at it tonight for about 5 min, the fuses all looked good and i checked the ones under the hood and they all were good. Would this be a problem with the blower motor or the switch? Or am I over looking something else. I am going to be honest, I am not the most electrically inclined person, i am mechanically incline but not electrically. I'd like to be able to help him out if I can. Thanks in advance!!!

I went through 3 resistors in my 02 dakota in 3 years. Once, the blower didn't work at all when it blew. I ended up keeping an extra in the glove box just like a ballast resistor in the old chryslers. I'm against parts changing as much as anyone but it might be worth the 12 bucks to replace it and if it doesn't solve the problem he has an extra because it will fail eventually.

Make sure the fuses are good (don't just eyeball them) and find out if the blower motor relay is OK (replace with known good one - there's a few identical ones in the PDC).

You might just unplug the blower then plug back in. Mine did that once and I unplugged then replugged and it has worked ever since. Got that out of the Haynes manual.

I've got an older dakota and I think there are some relays on the drivers fender in a plastic box and one if for the blower, I think. Might check there. Ya, that resistor is less then $12 a quick to change to. Mine failed with the AC blowing on a 100 deg day.

Although, Thanks for the replies, I'll be looking at his truck in a little bit after he gets off work. I might go out and get a resistor for the truck, if thats not it then he'll have a spare.

Truck is fixed, picked up a resistor at the dealer for $13. I called around to a couple parts stores i normally deal with and I was told that it was a dealer only part and wasn't listed in the books. Oh well, still wasn't expensive to fix. Thanks for the help guys!
