Engine pre-heater isn't working
Is there a relay that controls the heating grid?
I don't know exactly where it is or how much it costs. Has anyone replaced these or are they prone to falure?
I need to mail order one, unless NAPA carries them?
What else might cause my truck to not preheat? The dash light comes on like normal when the weather is cold and the light stays on for the proper time but when I try to start the truck it's obvious the preheater didn't work.
just looking for some info on it
thanks

There are two relays for the grid heaters under the driver's side batteries, just follow the wires to the grids back to them. Very often the small control wires to the relays fall off, they are just pushed over the ends of some screws. Pinch them with pliers to make tighter.
If you do need new solenoids just use a Ford starter solenoid, any Napa will have them for around $10. Ask for one without a grounded case.
www.surpluscenter.com also has the one you need for $6, p/n 11-2331
