4hrs from home truck missing codes p0205 and p0607. Help!!!

Hi guys, need your help. I'm on the road 4 hrs from home. Truck started missing bad and lots of heavy vibration. Ran the codes. Showing p0205 and p607. I have limited resources today, out in BFE. I'm typing all this from my iPhone.

First: any idea on what is going in and a quick fix?

Second: if I can't get it fixed, is it ok to drive it on home.

Thkx in advance on this one. Truck specs are in my sig.

Here's what I've found

A P0607 could be caused by one or more of the following:

Loose ground terminal on PCM/ECM
Dead or defective (12V main) battery
An open or short in the power or ground circuit
Loose or corroded battery terminals
Failed PCM/ECM

The P0205 refers to the #5 injector circuit. I'm also doing this from my iPhone.

From what I have read p0607 is being triggered from the p0205. I just greased the valve cover connections for injector #5. I set the timing on the XRT Pro to default. It was at one step up from the XRT default. Still running rough and showing codes.

What to do????

Ive come to the conclusion that im not going to fix it where i am. I really need to know if it safe to go ahead and drive the truck the way it is. It idles rough. At min acceleration it's rough. It's pretty smooth on heavy acceleration. The main thing is that I don't want to hurt the motor by driving on it.

It's a deisel. If a cylinder isn't getting fuel, it's just dragged along for the ride. Runs cold, might use a little oil.

When's the last time you heard an Amtrak engine hitting on all cylinders?

I would keep sniffing, have the battery disconnect wrench and a fire extinguisher handy, though.

Thanks for the input. Good point on Amtrak. Lol I just didn't want to tear up anything running that cylinder dry

I narrowed it down to with the injector or the harness inside the valve cover. I hope it's the harness. I was thinking if I have to replace an injector I might as well put in 50hp all around. This way I could sneak it by the wife. Lol

If possible, remove any programmer and get the truck back to stock. If you've got an injector going down, drive the bare minimum. It's very easy to melt down a piston and take out some valves.

Ok guys, I pulled the valve cover and checked the wires. The looked ok. Put the meter on the #5 injector with the injector disconnected. Ohm showed 0. Bad injector it is. Just got everything back together. I'm dropping it off at the dealer or maybe cummins in the morning. Thanks for all the input. This forum has saved my butt several times.
